The 'move your money to a safe account' call

Someone claiming to be your bank's fraud team says your account is compromised and they'll help you move the money somewhere safe.

How it works

  1. 01Caller ID is spoofed to show the bank's real number.
  2. 02The caller knows recent transactions — usually from a breach or a phishing page you visited.
  3. 03You are told not to hang up, and to move money to a 'safe account' they control.

How to spot it

  • No bank will ever ask you to move money to another account. Ever.
  • Hang up, wait five minutes, then call the number on the back of your card.
  • Pressure to stay on the line is the attack, not the security.

How the fleet stops it

Psycher

Psycher matches the script, Argus checks whether your details appeared in a recent breach, and Plutus confirms nothing has actually moved — then offers a payee freeze you can approve in one tap.
